Why am I getting an extraction error trying to open an export file?

This article explains the "Windows cannot complete the extraction" error generated when trying to open export files. Steps to resolve the problem are provided so you can access your exported data.

If you export a large amount of data from Hyperproof, it will download as a "zip folder" containing multiple files.

If you see this error when opening the folder:
"Compressed (zipped) Folders Error: Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created," it means the zip folder needs to be extracted before use.


​How to extract the zip file:

  1. Download the zip folder.
    ​

  2. In your Windows Downloads folder, right-click the zipped folder.

  3. Select Extract all.
    ​

  4. Confirm the location for the extracted files, then click Extract.
    ​

  5. A new Explorer window will open with a list of the extracted files.

  6. Open the proof files as needed.
